Carousel Memories

Image Hosting by PictureTrail.com

Today I spent hours sitting with Darryl in the Oncology day ward as they dripped chemotherapy into his veins. As I sat I drew and we remembered the days when we were young and went to Luna Park together. The Carousel bought back memories of carefree days, of the giggle palace, mirror maze, river boat ride and old ghost train. These days we ride a far different carousel and wonder when the ride will end.

Your sketching is becoming so professional. I love this one. It reminds me of those other days when a ride on a carousel was a big adventure.

When you think about it, life is a carousel, is it not?

thanks Vi. Even I looked at this image and thought WOW. They are so beautiful. And yes! Life is a carousel and some riders slip off along the way.

Yes, you were not home yesterday,
I called in on the off chance with someone who had an appointment at H/berg at the Austin Hospital......It had slipped my memory that Darryl was starting his Chemotherapy...Sorry old girl I didn't remember.
I shall print out those drawings of the horses of the carousel for Angie.....Just beautiful...
It is a strange coincidence, but I worked with a nurse in Northcote name of Bridgee McCracken...who's daughter (Can't remember her 1st name) she was an artist of note, restored the horses on the Luna Park Carousel some 15 years ago...she took each one to her farmhouse somewhere ouside of Bendigo,it took many years to do them in the original design and colours...
Did you know they have a newly made carousel on the Geelong foreshore in a big glass dome and also a barrel organ and outside on the lawns they have statues or re/productions of tin soldiers, guardsman, drummers etc etc etc...all about 10ft high
they are just beautiful....
You can have a nice meal and coffee ,then stroll along the foreshore promenade ..it has been wonderfully restored, there is nothing like it in Melb even along the Yarra River....

Love ,Lois (Muse of the Sea)
Thank you le Enchantress oh mine 9-11-05.

Sorry we missed you Lois. The carousel horses always had an allure and I am happy with the way these turned out. I can see might just become addicted to drawing them. Very therapeutic.
